Our First Week in Term Two

Hi,

What a good first week we had. We learnt about lots of maori things. We had a lesson with Mrs Yeomen and she taught us the maori words for cat, dog, bird and goldfish. The word for bird is manu the word for dog is kuri, the word for cat is ngeru and we can't remember the word for goldfish because it was too hard! We also sang some waiata. You can watch the video of us singing our favourite waiata Tutira Mai.

Our Easter Recounts

Here are the recounts that we wrote about our Easter holidays.

We wrote and edited our recounts and then we self assessed our writing. When we thought we had done a brilliant job we used the school laptops to publish our writing. Last of all we illustrated our recounts with beautiful pictures. We hope you enjoy reading them.

BUCKET FILLER OF THE WEEK

Well Done to Last Weeks Bucket Filler

BYRON

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

The Holidays are Coming!

Hey,

We are all looking forward to the holidays and having a nice break after a busy term of hard work and fun, Juniper is even off to Australia!

This week we have been working on Character Descriptions. We used the Literacy link on the blog today to see how we can make our own characters on the computer.

Both Theo and Neva have been working on their Strength Goal for their learning commitment. Theo is going to be making some posters on the computer and he has finished his first one about Ninjago. It was very interesting to look at.

Neva has been working VERY hard at her strength goal. She has very generously designed and made a piece of jewellery for everyone in our class. They are AMAZING and we were very lucky and thankful to receive these special gift, look out for a new jewellery designer in the future!

We have finished our superhero masks and will pop a photo up of these tomorrow so make sure you come on and have a look!

See ya

Catching Up on the Last Few Weeks

Ohiyo Gozimasu

Today for writing we brainstormed all of the things that we have been doing and decided we would tell you about the following things:

- We are very excited to have a new person in our class. Kana Minami has just arrived into NZ from Japan and we have been trying very hard to help her settle into our class and learn about what we do at school.

- Recently we had International day. This was really fun because we came to school dressed in international costumes and had a parade in the hall. Miss C painted our faces with flags and we enjoyed some fun activities at lunch time like rugby, origami and kite flying.

- Last week to celebrate Easter we made Easter rabbits and chickens by getting a yoghurt pottle and painting it. Then we stuck feathers on the chickens and bunny ears and whiskers on the rabbits. After that the Easter bunny came and put some easter eggs in our chickens and rabbits. We wrote recounts about our Easter holiday and then we published them on the computer. Miss Cassidy was very proud of how hard we tried and said that we all wrote amazing recounts. Look out for some of these on the blog in the next few weeks.

- We are making some superhero masks in Art. Next week we will post some photos of our masks on the blog.

We have also been celebrating some birthdays this term. Happy birthday to Neva, Lintong and Darcie.

We hope you had a nice Easter.
